It was 11:30 at night, the start of a long evening for Trixi. She'd just found a new case, something involving a doppelganger or a shape-shifter. Simple but frustrating. She'd been researching all day, with only a little time off for a nap and some chow. Now though, now she was really resting. Trixi was in a small pub on the north side of the city. She sat by herself in the corner of the crowded dark room. She had a small green bottle of guinness held between her fingers and her eyes were following the others in the room.
It would be several hours until she felt safe enough to begin tracking the thing she was hunting, but already her mind was spinning into overdrive, trying to anticipate where the creature might be an what it might be doing right now. She tried to turn her attention elsewhere, but only succeeded in focusing more on the people she was watching.
Trixi was paranoid, she knew it. Still, she couldn't help but try to figure out what monsters the people she was watching would be best suited for. She stopped herself with the first identification of who would make the best werewolf. Her choice was a pudgy old guy at the pool table.
Turning her attention back to the bar, trying to decide if she wanted another drink, she caught sight of a man. He wasn't bad looking and if she could, she'd say he looked friend. Something about him felt off. Still, the appearance of the man made her get up to take a closer look.
"Another one." She murmured to the bartender, brandishing her empty bottle at him. She turned and threw her best smile at the man at the bar, trying to size him up.
"Hi."

Ulric sat at the bar, hands wrapped around a glass of beer as he stared into it. His mind was else where, paying no mind to the noise around him. It wasn't something he normally did but being in a crowded bar he knew the chance of getting jumped was small.
He had been on the run for a few days now, five maybe six days since his last 'stop'. His mind went back to the kind nuns that took him in and feed him while he did small tasks for them that they needed done but lacked in money to get fixed. If the pack wasn't on his trail, he would have thought about staying with them a while longer to get everything on their list done but sadly fate was not with him. All he could do now was hope that their god looked over them.
Hi.
The voice made him jump some, making him curse him self mentally for allowing him self to become so unaware of his surroundings. Ulric turned to see a female looking at him, making him a little leery as to why someone would want to talk him.
"Hello." Giving a smile as he was not quite use to having a woman come up and talk to him at a bar and still wishing to be friendly. She didn't smell like the pack, so maybe she was a local and could give him some information on the area. He leaned back some. "What can I do for you miss?" She wanted something, why else would she ask?

"Oh nothing," She watched him. Her brow quirked a little. She threw him a little smile. "You just looked interesting, I was bored." She shrugged. It wasn't typical for Trixi to talk to people. Normally she was a lot more standoffish, but it was the truth. She was bored and he did look interesting. "I'm Trixi." She liked the name, and she offered it even though it wasn't her real one. "And you are?"
She took a swig of her beer once it was laid out on the table. She couldn't help but eye him again. Yeah, he was attractive. She hadn't figured out if he was her type or not. Well, not like it really mattered. She wasn't planning on getting laid tonight. She had too much to do. With a little hop she took the seat next to him. "Know anything about this town?" She asked, tilting her head to look at him. "I'm kinda new here."

"That's a new one. " He gave a small chuckle. She introduced her self as Trixi. "Nice to meet you Trixi, I'm Ulric." Offering her a friendly handshake. She was pretty but he could not offered trying to turn this batter into anything else. Maybe once his pack was dead, or at least learned not to mess with him, then he could start looking around for someone to spend time with.
He watched as she hopped onto the stool next to him, turning back to his drink as she looked at him very aware of her eyes running over him. "'fraid not. I'm new around here as well. Though the funny thing is I was going to ask you the same thing." He took a swig of his own drink. "I just got into town today. You?"

"Could say the same for your name." She smirked and returned the handshake. Trixi flashed him a shrug. "a few days ago." She looked toward the back of the bar, letting her eyes fall on the mirror. She watched her back, careful not to be too obvious. "I like it so far. It's quiet, quaint. What do you think about it?"
Trixi took a sip of her beer. She let her eyes wander around her again. She knew she was going to come across as weird, but she turned to him. "Does something about tonight seem off to you?" She suddenly questioned, feeling him out.

Ulric gave her a shrug of his own. "Only been here for a day. Not keen on the place my self. Though I'm more of a country boy, cities always make me feel weird."
He finished his drink in one gulp and waved for another, pulling a wallet out of his back pocket and paying for the new drink as he thought on her second question. Sure the place had the smell of 'others', but the place had to many smells in it for him to say if there was another monster in the room with them. The only thing he really had to worry about was pissing off the local pack, which could be in the room or could be very well planning an ambush outside.
But it wasn't like he was going to share this with her. "Other then having a pretty woman talk to me?" He shrugged again. "Not much. Maybe a little quite in a bar but I don't know the normal volume of the place." He eyed her now. "Why, something feel off to you?"

She smiled at him and then turned and shook her head. He was a flatterer. She'd give him that. "Yeah, but I'm a paranoid kind of person so it's probably just me." She laughed a little and threw her glance back to the mirror. The case was still weighing on her mind. It made her mad because she came her to get away from it. It wasn't like it was a big deal. Just something small, nothing like going after a pack f wolves or a nest of vamps. Maybe she was missing something though.
"So, what brought you to the city if you don't like it here?" She questioned him. "She tilted her head down, listening to the crowd behind her.

He smiled, knowing that would be her next question. "Oh, just passing through. I'm a bit of a loner, drifting from town to town. Some might say it's not much of a life, but to me it's everything. I get to see things and meet new people. So I can't complain to much."
Ulric turned to look at her. "Let me guess, you're here for business. Most likely working for some higher ups that need their money so you're here to be their enforcer?" He gave her a teasing smile. "Ah, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be teasing you since we really don't know each other that much. I think the beer is starting to get to me." With that he took another drink.

With a shake of her head, Trixi just scoffed. "It's ok." She murmered, looking down at her bottle between her hands. Glancing back up, she met his eyes. "You got me pegged wrong though." The smirk crept back onto her face. "I'm just like you." She brandished the bottle at him. "I'm a loner, and I work for myself. I am here for business, but I'm the higher up."
Well, she was. That wasn't a lie. She ran her own business. She did things for herself. Especially hunting. Trixi's mind was drawn back to it, to the hunt she had to do. If it kept coming up she'd have to excuse herself. She liked to take care of things before they got too far from her. "How long are you looking at staying here?" she finally asked.

"Your own boss. Must be nice. What exactly do you do if you don't mind me prying. I just do odd jobs to sustain my self. Someone always need something done so I don't have to worry about money all that much." Ulric chuckled, finishing his beer and not ordering another.
He shrugged at her question. "Until I get tired of place, which most likely won't be long. Cities really aren't my thing. I prefer open space and the rugged wilderness."

"Well, country boy. Hope you find some good work here." She raised her eyes and thought, going through all her old stories for the one that made the most sense. "I do some private eye work, but mostly hunting and tracking for tourists and city slickers. I'm really good at finding missing things, and I think well on my feet." She supplied.
"so, where you off to after you leave here tonight?"

"Thank you miss. Shouldn't be to hard, it is a big city after all." It must be nice to know that some where out there, someone needed your skills. "Well, I hope your hunting goes well then. I know finding things can be a pain in the ass."
He raised his eyebrow at her when she asked where he was going for the night, not sure how to take that comment. "I'm staying in a hotel. Not a five star, but it's a bed and four walls with a roof."

" Cool man, just wondering if you were busy." She shrugged and smiled, downing the rest of the beer. She raised her hand for the tab. She had a bit of work left to do tonight. Yeah. She'd come here to forget...but she figured if she was still thinking of it, then she should do it. She paid quickly and stood up, smiling.
"It was nice to meet you." She held out her hand for him. "Hope you have a good night."

He watched as she quickly stood up after answering his question. She put her hand out and he took it with a smile. "Nice to meet you as well Miss Trixi. Goodnight to you too." Shaking her hand and letting go to get is own tab.
Ulric could feel the buzz he wanted slowly creeping up. It wasn't often he drank but it did help him sleep without troubled dreams. He payed with a wad of ones and stretched, having to remember how to get back to his hotel.
